Modernization OVET 9

TES Industrial Systems B.V. has received from OVET B.V. the order to fully electrically modernize the Ovet 9, a 25T Leminiskaat crane, both the crane and the pontoon, as part of a life extension including hybrid drive.

The existing Ward Leonard control system, including the generators and motors, have been completely removed and replaced by new Siemens PLC controls, frequency converters and AC motors, equipped with a hybrid installation based on Ultracaps.

Ovet has once again opted for a TES Industrial Systems Full-Hybrid installation, in which the system automatically stores as much regenerative energy as possible in a buffer consisting of a TES Industrial Systems B.V. designed Ultracap system.

The first Hybrid system was already commissioned in 2011 on the OVET 11, and has therefore already proven itself in recent years.

In recent years, this system has also been installed on other modernized OVET cranes.

Incidentally, we have supplied a large number of Ultracap installations for various applications since 2012.

The advantages for storing this energy are fuel savings, soot emission reduction and the saving on maintenance costs for the diesel engine.

After panel construction in our workshop, the panels are extensively tested to keep the turnaround time of the conversion as short as possible.

The crane has been back in production for a few months now and is working to Ovet’s full satisfaction.
